Overview Of Tsum valley Trek

The Tsum Valley Trek is a unique and culturally rich trekking experience located in the northern part of the Gorkha district of Nepal, near the border with Tibet. This 14-day trek offers stunning Himalayan scenery, ancient Buddhist monasteries, and a chance to experience the unique culture of the Tsumba people.

The secret Tibetan Buddhist mystical land lying at the edge of Himalayan Valleys where we can find happy people at Tsum Valley, hidden valley of Tsum means “vivid” home direct descendant Tibetan people known as Tsumbas. It is one of the world’s remotest valley takes you into the majestic surroundings of Ganesh Himal, Sringi Himal, and Boudha Himal range. This place remains untouched with ancient villages and Tibetan Buddhist monasteries waiting to be explored. The people of Tsum valley, Tsumbas belong to Tibetan origin with their own ancient form of dialect, art, culture, religion and food is at Manaslu Conservation area.

Tsum valley had many beautiful villages that practice iconic cultural wonders and the timelessness of Tsum’s culture is something that will amaze you during the trek. While, you explore those remote mountains, cultures and the unique lifestyle of the people of Tsum valley you will catch up some powerful healing energy.  You will be speechless to be there and to feel the place in such a remote region with such beautiful cultural richness along with innocent lifestyle.

The trek initiates and ends at the point of Arughat, a seven hour drive from Kathmandu. The first half of the journey need to ascend the Budi Gandaki Vlley on good paths through a mix of dense forest terraced fields, pretty landscape and hill villages. After we leave the main Manaslu Trial from Tsum valley, suddenly we get a feeling of entering truly into the hidden valley. Moreover, the second half of the trial passes through the alpine forests, glacier rivers, and enjoy the warm hospitality of authentic and ethic villages. Not only that, it is blessed to put your feet on such a spiritual region such as Rachen Gompa, Mu Gompa, Dephyudonma Gompa and many more.

Itinerary

Day 01 Drive from Kathmandu to Arughat Bazzar (535m) - Machhakhola

  • 6-7 Hours’ drive from Kathmandu to Arughat Bazzar
  • 2-3 hours from Arughat to Machhakhola
  • Total Distance of 161 p.m.
  • Overnight at Tea House

Day 02 Trek Machha Khola to Jagat (1340m) -5 to 6 Hours

  • 15 K.M of total Distance
  • Trial involves some steep ascents to the Doban.
  • Glimpses of the diversity of Flora and Fauna
  • Overnight at Jagat.

Day 03 Trek Jagat to Lokpa (2240m) – 5 to 6 Hours

  • After breakfast, journey leads to ascend rugged rocky trial.
  • Total distance of 13.5 K.M
  • Several waterfalls on both sides of Budi Gandaki river and hundred species of birds makes trip enjoyable
  • Unique hospitality with culture and religion
  • Magnificent vistas of Ganesh Himal, Shringi Himal and Himal Chuli

Day 04 Trek from Lokpa to Chumling(2361m)- 4to 5 hours

  • Trial goes down through the jungle most of the time and heads up over a ridge that leads to Ganesh Himal Base Camp and Chumling.

Day 05 Trek Chumling to Chhekampar (Upper Tsum) 3010m -4 to 5 Hours

  • After breakfast trek to Chhekampar.
  • This village is situated on flat land and made up of two settlements Chhekam and Paro.
  • Total distance of 14 K.M
  • Overnight at Teahouse

Day 06 Trek Chhekampar to Chhule- Nile (3361m), visit Milarepa Cave on the way -5 to 6 Hours

  • On the way, we pass the Piren Phu cave.
  • Sacred cave in Tsum valley
  • Two separate monasteries attached to the rocky cave
  • Buddhist murals, excellent artistic scripts
  • Last village heading north of Tsum valley.
  • Overnight stay at Homestay

Day 07 Trek – Nile to Mu Gompa (3700m), visit Dhephyudonma Gompa (4060m)- 3 to 3Hours

  • Trial gradually ascends to Mu Gompa (1895m)
  • Largest Monastery in the region and the farthest point in the Tsum Valley
  • Life size statue of Avalokitshwara and images of Guru Padmasambhava and Tara
  • Visit Dephyudonma Gumba
  • 13 K.M total distance of trek
  • Overnight at Teahouse

Day 08 Trek Mu Gompa to Gho (2555m) -6 to 7 Hours

  • Descent to the Gho via Chulie Nepali, nunnery Rachen Gompa
  • Valley in the foothills of the Mountains bordering Nepal and Tibet
  • The interior is richly painted with muraks about Buddhism and its history
  • Total distance of 16 K.M
  • Stay overnight at Gho

Day 09 Trek Gho to Gumba Lungdang (3200m)- 4 to 5 Hours

  • Gumba Lungdang is isolated area middle of local people.
  • Best view point for entire Tsum Valley treks, magnificent view of mountains including out of seven peaks of Ganesh Himal RANGE

Day 10 Trek Gumba Lungdang to Ganesh Himal Base Camp (4800m) - Gumba Lungdang

  • Today exploring Ganesh Himal Bse Camp
  • Off the beaten trial
  • 15 K.M total distance
  • Best place to meditate in the Monastery or just relax while singing with Mother Nature.
  • Overnight at Home stay

Day 11 Trek Gumba Lungdang Richet/Sipchet(2470m) -5 to 6 Hours

  • We descend toward Ripchet known as Sipchet after exploring Gumbva Lungdang
  • 17 K.M total distance
  • Fields of brown barley, hundreds of yaks gazing in grassy meadows, rustic stone and stacked mani walls, ancient villages dotting the landscape
  • 5 to 6 hours trek
  • Overnight at teahouse

Day 12 Trek Ripchet to Philim (1570m) -5 to 6 Hours

  • After breakfast, we are heading to Philim and cross Ripchet
  • We pass the most beautiful waterfalls in the Lower Tsum Valley, Samba Tingding Chhupyang
  • There are remarkable numbers of Mani Walls, Chortens and gateway Chortens.
  • 16.6 K.M total distance

Day 13 Trek Philim to Mchhakhola (930m) – to 7 Hours

  • From Philim we trek to Machhakhila via Tatopani( hot spring) for about 6 to 7 hours most of the trial is downhill.
  • 17 K.M of total distance.
  • Overnight at Homestay

Day 14 Drive Machhakhola to Kathmandu (1350m)via Aru gaht Bazar and Gorkha Bazzar- 9 to 10 Hours

  • We will be ready at 6:00 in the morning to have breakfast
  • Drive to Kathmandu
  • It takes 9 to 10 Hours by bus
  • 138 K.M
